(PEC) Sindh Govt Local Bodies Elections 3 December 2022
The government wants to delay the local bodies electoral process by a week and sought theElection Commission of Pakistan (ECP) nod in this regard through the top official of the provincial administration, said a key member of the provincial cabinet on Thursday.
Sindh Local Government Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah shared with the media the details of a recently-held meeting between the chief secretary and the chief election commissioner in Pakistan in which the request was put forward before the federal institution.
Whereas educational institutions will remain close in karachi 4th & 5th december 2022. However the private intitutions have not yet confirmed the holidays regarding Chehlum and Local Body Elections in Sindh and Karachi.The Chehlum will be observed across the country on Thursday, whereas local government elections are scheduled to be held in the city on Saturday 5th december 2022.
The chief secretary in fact has met the chief election commissioner and apprised him about the situation. We only want one more week for the execution of the first phase of the local government electoral process. The provincial government s request has formally been conveyed to the Election Commission of Pakistan.
Notably the third and the final phase of local body elections is going to be held on 5th December 2022 in Sindh and Punjab. In Karachi: The Election Commission has given the s magistrates powers to the presiding officers, soldiers and ranger in municipal elections.
